When I embarked on doing art for this series, I learned that Sunflowers are the national flower of Ukraine. They are farmed and are a staple of Ukrainian society. They are a symbol of peace, and have become a symbol of resistance and support. Thinking about all the men, fathers and brothers who had to stay behind to help with the war, I came up with this image with the men at war and the sunflower crying.
